Italy in 1 Week: A Test of Strength

Imagine seeing some of Italy's most popular cities in 1 week. When these cities include Rome, Naples, Pompeii, Florence, Venice and Milan it makes you think twice about taking this kind of journey. Nonetheless, my family saw the opportunity and we took it. We were on our way to a trip of a lifetime.

The reason I refer to this trip as a test of strength in the title is that this vacation was not easy but it was totally worth it. To experience great parts of Italy we had to push ourselves beyond our comfort zones. We entered a completely new environment with little preparation and we didn't speak the language, although knowing Spanish was an immense help.

This trip was fast-paced and it required us to get up early, go to sleep late, walk many kilometres and take all kinds of transportation to get around.

Also, it was a test to see how well my family got along. We had to face many challenges together but we did end up working everything out. This trip will be unforgettable as we ended up seeing amazing sites, seeing beautiful architecture and making a once in a lifetime trip to the Vatican.

Started off taking pictures in our hotel in Rome.

Walked from the hotel to the Colosseum.

We found three roses by the Colosseum. My mom says its a gift from St. Therese.

I love using tile to decorate. These tiles belong to an ancient ruin.

Next day at the Trevi Fountain.

At the Spanish Steps. Can't help but think about The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

In the Church of St. Cecilia in Trastevere.

A few years ago, our parish priest told us all about St. Cecilia. She has an amazing story about faith.

The crypt below the Church of St. Cecilia.

By this time we have been walking for hours. Hours!!

Saint Pope Pius X

Note how we are all wearing a fanny pack. Our mom has the final say. 😆

 Heading back to the Hotel.

Took the train from Rome to Naples. On our way to our Airbnb, if we could find it!

Took us help from the locals to find the Airbnb and a lot of stamina to go up those stairs.

We thought we found the right address.

Thankfully we were wrong. This is the right address!

During lunch after walking through an extensive part of Pompeii.

The paintings on these ruin walls are amazing!

Off to Florence!

Took a bus to our hostel.

From my observations, Florence was the city with the most tourists.

It was boiling outside, but I got a tan!

Italy has marble everywhere.

No words needed to describe the beauty of Venice! My favourite place in Italy.

If you look closely I do not look amused. We were running behind schedule.

Duomo in Milan

These pictures don't capture its entire grandeur.

A fancy old confessional

Galleria in Milan

I just wanted to share this amazing trip with everyone. I hope that you all can get to see the beauty of Italy one day. Really one of the coolest places I've ever been.
