10 Modest Fashion Hacks Every Girl Should Know
Dressing modestly isn’t so easy but it ain’t so hard. After doing a little research online I found some amazing modesty hacks that I would like to share with all you women who would like to dress beautifully without being too revealing.
1. When it comes to plunging necklines sometimes all you need is a safety pin. Just pin the fabric together and you are good to go. If you've got sewing skills and you want long term results sewing the fabric together is the way to go.
2. If your shirt doesn’t seem to have any give to pin the neckline together you can make it more modest by layering a tank top right under.
During the summer months adding extra layers sounds like a sweaty mess. A hack that I just learned from one of Emily Inman’s videos is to wear half tees under your shirts or dresses. Half tees prevent your midriff from getting too hot and they stop that uncomfortable feeling of tucking in too many layers or having a tank top roll up under a dress.
I haven’t tried those products myself but after reading a few reviews I’m definitely going to give them a try.
3. Another hack that I learned is to not be afraid to modify a piece of clothing by undoing some of its stitching or cutting some fabric. For instance, I bought these button up shirts from Old Navy but I didn’t wear them for months because I felt like the folded sleeves were too short. So I decided to undo the stitching of the sleeves to make it longer and now it has become one of my favourite shirts.
3. If you have a shirt that feels too tight around the chest area, something that you can do is wear a scarf that matches your outfit to make you feel more comfortable. This also works well to provide more coverage for shirts that have necklines that just feel too low.
4. If you have a dress that fits you modestly but looks a little bit boxy something that you can do is define your waist by using a belt or a sweater. This is a great hack that can help curvy women, because instead of buying dresses that can look immodest just because of the way they were designed or their clingy fabric its possible to size up so that women can control which part of the body they would like to accentuate.
5. On the other side of the spectrum, if you feel uncomfortable wearing a skirt because it might be too tight what you can do is cover your bum by wearing a sweater that is long enough to cover that area or you could also tie a jacket around your waist so that in can drape over the back of the skirt.
6. Many of the cute dresses sold online would seem almost perfect if they were only a little longer. What I recommend that you do for those cases is order clothing in a tall size if its available on the seller’s website. This is a great hack for petite women that are 5 and a half feet tall or under.
7. To elongate a dress that is too short for you what you could always do is layer a skirt under the dress. This layer will serve its purpose the most when you sit down as skirts and dresses tend to rise up whenever sitting down.
8. If your dress is the perfect length but a little bit of wind could easily create a scene, just layer a pair of shorts under your skirt. This is a great tip for extra security.
9. If you feel that wearing midi length skirts or dresses make your calfs look wider as sometimes they can cut at an awkward length a great way to elongate your legs would be to wear nude pointed toed shoes or nude heels.
10 . Honestly, after doing all this research I found that the best hack to modest fashion is to learn how to sew. Sewing is a skill that will help you modify any piece of clothing into anything that you want it to be.
Those are all the modesty hacks I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post. If you have any hacks of your own that you would like to share don’t hesitate to comment them down below. Thank you for stopping by and God bless!
