10 Amazing Traditional Catholic Books for Your Soul

I'm sure you already know how powerful reading is. Reading is one of the best ways to learn about any subject because you learn it from the experts. Almost everything I know about the Catholic faith I've learned by reading.

In my teenage years, I used to really dislike reading. I couldn't get through one assigned book for any of my classes. It was only when I started to want to know more did I actually begin to read books. When I became serious about my faith I really wanted to know more about how to change my soul to make it more pleasing to God. Thus, I began to read and read and read. 

Here is a list of amazing Catholic books that I loved reading. I always go back to reading them because they motivate me to keep trying. They're amazing!

1. The 12 Steps to Holiness and Salvation (Amazon Link)

Written from the works of St. Alphonsus Liguori, this book is super simple to understand and it gets straight to the point. It explains 12 different virtues and habits that will help you save your soul. Also, it includes many quotes and examples from the Bible and from the lives of the saints. It's great!

2. The Prophecies and Revelations of Saint Bridget of Sweden (Free Ebook Link)

This book is a combination of visions and revelations that St. Bridget experienced during her lifetime. It is extremely interesting and it helps you learn more about God and Mary. It contains a lot of examples and metaphors. I've never read anything like this and I was obsessed with it.

3. Eucharistic Miracles (Amazon Link)

If you ever feel tempted to doubt the real presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament you should read this book. It is full of Eucharistic miracles that occurred throughout history and in the lives of the saints. It leaves you with a lasting impression that helps you secure faith. You can tell that the writer of this book really did her research.

4. The Glories Of Mary (Amazon Link) (Free Ebook Link)

This book is great to learn more about Mary. By reading this book you will learn how God has given us His Mother for the salvation of mankind. It is separated into many sections, which makes it easy to read. You will grow to love the Virgin Mary by reading this book. 

5. Crucial Truths to Save Your Soul (Free Ebook Link)

The title says it all. Written by the late Fr. Gruner, this read is great for Catholics seeking to learn more about the Traditional Catholic movement in the simplest form. It clearly explains the need to love the truth and it explains the dogmas that must never be forgotten. It is great to learn the basics of our faith.







6. The Secret of the Rosary (Amazon Link)

Without a doubt, the rosary is one of the most powerful prayers. I've learned this through my own life experiences and by reading this book. Filled with astonishing stories, this book will convince you to pray the rosary daily. In addition, it explains what not to do when praying the rosary. Very interesting.

7. Introduction to the Devout Life (Amazon Link) (Free Ebook Link)

Introduction to the Devout Life is a book explaining the basics of the Catholic life. It's written for someone who has chosen to take their faith more seriously. It's a great book for those who wish to leave behind the worries of the world and follow Christ. Although it was written a few centuries ago, the advice in the book is still applicable to modern day life.

8. Know Your Mass (Link)

By studying this book, or should I say comic book, I am now able to follow and understand the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It is great for kids and converts as it illustrates and clearly explains each step of the Traditional Latin Mass. I am now able to follow along with my missal and make the most out of every mass I attend.

9. The Four Last Things: Death, Judgment, Hell, Heaven (Amazon Link)

If you are curious, like me, and you would like to know more about what will happen to us when we pass on this is a good read 😐. I know, it's kind of a dark topic but we're better off knowing about it. My favourite part of this book is when it explains how Heaven will be like. There are so many interesting things in this little book.

10. The Passion and the Death of Jesus Christ (Amazon Link) (free ebook link)

This book is great for meditating on the Passion of our Lord. This book is supposed to be followed during Lent, but if ever you need to meditate on the sacrifice God has done for us this is the book for you. St. Alphonsus analyzes, in depth, the pains and suffering that Jesus went through. I used to read some excerpts of this book prior to going to confession.
